Empty media is too cheap nowadays and are very bad for the nature. Store your data on re-writeable media such as CD-RW, DVD-RW if needed. RW (is for rewritable) are a bit more expensive but it will pay off since you can re-use them time after time. Other disks are just a problem waste after your data is outdated.

Lower your heating or increase temperature on your Air Conditioning by one degree and save annually as much as 10% off your electricity bill. You will be one step greener.

This advice is a bit two sided – we rarely recommend getting a new computer but as you know the life cycle of a computer is relatively short. If you really need a new computer wait as long as you can, sell or re-cycle your old one and get yourself a laptop e.g. most Apple Macs are good choice since they are very energy efficient. The main point is not to get energy hungry desktop towers if not absolutely necessary.
